Ministry Opportunity: Youth & Young Adult Director

Purpose: The Youth & Young Adult Pastor/Director is responsible to reach, disciple, and equip youth and young adults from grade 7 to age 25 to become growing followers of Jesus.
Responsibilities: The following tasks are assigned to the Youth & Young Adult Director:
Reach Non-Churched Youth and Families for Jesus
Missional Events: Develop new relationships by finding opportunities in the community to reach youth and families (e.g. local schools; clubs; community events).
Attractional Events: Create monthly events for youth and young adults to invite non-church friends (e.g. Laser Tag; Corn Maze).
Disciple Youth & Young Adults to Grow in Their Faith in Jesus
Organize a weekly event for Youth (grades 7-12) to connect and grow their faith.
Organize a weekly event for Young Adults (age 18-25) to connect and grow their faith.
Provide biblical teaching, small group discussion, and mentorship to youth and young adults.
Promote Bible College preview days and youth camps (e.g. WPBC; SYC)
Plan an annual youth retreat
Equip and Send Youth & Young Adults to serve Jesus
Ministry Projects: Organize ministry projects for youth and young adults to serve the church (e.g. worship band; youth service; men’s breakfast cooking).
Missional Projects: Organize missional projects for youth and young adults to serve the community (e.g. highway cleanup; Airdrie Fest, mission trip).
Perform Other Ministry Tasks
Grow the ministry by recruiting and developing coordinators and volunteers.
Create 2-3 fundraisers each year to support the ministry.
Oversee the Grace Family Camp at WPBC.
Preach periodically and serve in other areas as determined by the Senior Pastor.

Scriptural Basis: The following are key Scriptures for the role of Youth & Young Adult Director:
Matthew 28:19-20 – “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”
1 Timothy 4:12 – “Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.”
Requirements: The following are the requirements for the Youth & Young Adult Director:
Has made a personal commitment to Jesus as being Saviour and Lord of their life.
Has been baptized by immersion as a sign of this commitment to follow Jesus.
Is willing to implement the purpose, mission, and vision of the church into the ministry.
Is committed to growing spiritually and setting a Christlike example.
Is committed to leading youth to Jesus and growing young leaders for God’s kingdom.
Is committed to working in a team setting and supporting the leadership.
Is willing to become a committed member of Grace Baptist Church.
Qualifications: The following describes the SHAPE profile of the Youth & Young Adult Director:
Spiritual gifts of leadership, teaching, shepherding, evangelism, and creativity.
Heart and passion to disciple youth and young adults to grow in their faith in Jesus.
Ability to recruit volunteers, develop youth programs, and deploy ministry leaders.
Personality that is engaging, friendly, understanding, and compassionate.
Experienced in youth ministries and has a Youth/Christian Ministry degree or relevant experience.
Work Dynamics:
30 - 40 hours per week. (Part-time or Full-time is negotiable)
Staff meet weekly for connecting, ministry coordination, training, and prayer.
This position is under the supervision of the Senior Pastor.
Salary is determined by a salary gridline and is adjusted to education and experience.
A minimum of three weeks’ vacation is given each year.
Three personal Sunday’s can be booked off each year, provided there is a suitable replacement.
Other times off are according to the Employee Leave policy.
Full-time employees receive a monthly pension and health benefits.
Ministry expenses (e.g. mileage, hospitality, ministry) are compensated.
