Our church is marked by relational warmth, strong community, and faithful biblical teaching. We are prayerfully seeking a male Lead Pastor who will help deepen discipleship, expand outreach, and mobilize our congregation for gospel mission and future church planting.
Position Summary
The Lead Pastor serves as the primary spiritual leader, shepherd, and teacher of Southwinds Church. He will faithfully preach and teach God’s Word, nurture the spiritual health of the congregation, and lead the church in its mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ.
Working collaboratively with the Management Team, staff, and ministry leaders, the Lead Pastor will provide vision and leadership to strengthen discipleship, equip members for ministry, and engage the surrounding community with the gospel.
Key Responsibilities
Preaching & Teaching
Prepare and deliver biblically grounded, Christ-centered sermons
Communicate Scripture clearly with practical application
Develop a preaching plan (primarily expository, with occasional topical series)
Collaborate with worship leaders and staff in planning services
Provide oversight to teaching and discipleship ministries
Vision & Spiritual Leadership
Seek God’s direction through prayer and Scripture
Partner with leadership to develop and implement ministry vision
Cultivate unity, spiritual growth, and a culture of prayer
Mobilize members for ministry, evangelism, and outreach
Invest in leadership development and disciple-making
Shepherding & Pastoral Care
Build meaningful relationships within the congregation
Provide pastoral care through prayer, visitation, and counseling
Officiate weddings, funerals, and baptisms
Oversee membership and baptism processes
Equip members to care for one another
Discipleship & Leadership Development
Strengthen discipleship pathways
Support life groups and small group ministries
Mentor emerging leaders and equip volunteers
Encourage spiritual growth and active ministry involvement
Staff Leadership & Ministry Coordination
Supervise and mentor ministry staff
Foster collaboration among leaders and volunteers
Align ministries with church mission and vision
Promote a healthy, Christ-centered ministry culture
Evangelism & Community Engagement
Model and promote a culture of evangelism
Build relationships within southeast Calgary
Support church planting and gospel partnerships
Encourage congregational involvement in outreach
Denominational & Ministry Partnerships
Maintain relationships within the CNBC
Engage with local pastors and churches
Encourage cooperation with gospel-centered ministries
Qualifications
Meets biblical qualifications outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1–7 and Titus 1:5–9
Clear calling to pastoral ministry
Accredited theological education (preferred)
Previous pastoral experience
Strong biblical preaching and teaching ability
Demonstrated leadership and relational skills
Commitment to prayer and spiritual formation
Ability to equip and mobilize others
Team-oriented with a servant’s heart
Agreement with Southwinds Church Statement of Faith

Work Schedule
Approximately 40 hours per week
Compensation
Salary range: $70,000 – $85,000, based on education and ministry experience

Ministry development funding (conferences and training, subject to approval)
Up to five days annually for personal development
Vacation
2–4 weeks annually, based on experience
One Sunday included in each week of vacation
