Job Title: Children's Ministry Coordinator
Location: New Song Community Church, Langley, BC
Job Type: Part-Time (approx. 20 hours per week), with potential for Full-Time
Reports To: Church Planting Pastor
Compensation: $20-30 (commensurate with experience and qualifications)
Position Overview:
We are seeking a Children’s Ministry Coordinator that is passionate for children and servant-hearted to oversee, organize and develop the Children's Ministry at New Song Community Church. The Children’s Ministry Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and organizing all aspects of the kids ministry for children ages 0-12. This includes oversight of nursery, children’s church, children’s activities during community groups, and other kids events and programs. The Children’s Ministry Coordinator also organizes and disciples Kids’ Ministry volunteers, and works to equip parents for the discipleship of their children.
Key Responsibilities:
Children’s Church:
Develop, coordinate with volunteers and implement weekly children’s church. Before
and after service, run the set-up and tear-down process for Kids’ Ministries, ensure all volunteers are in place, and oversee the morning check-in process.
Rotate serving in the Nursery, Preschool and Elementary classes as needed. (We desire this person to both be able to actively attend church service and serve in a way that lightens the volunteer need.)
Community Groups: Plan and lead activities for children during New Song’s community groups and monthly Servants Meeting.
Events & Special Programs: Assist in the planning and execution of special events like VBS (Vacation Bible School), kids camps, holiday programs.
Volunteer Coordination: Recruit, train, and provide ongoing support for children’s ministry volunteers. Ensure that all volunteers are equipped with resources and clear expectations to lead effectively.
Relationship Building: Build strong, caring relationships with children and their families, through regular communication.
Budget & Purchasing:
Manage Children’s Ministry budget.
Order quarterly curriculum for children’s programming.
Maintain necessary supplies for lessons, crafts, and activities.
Safety & Compliance: Maintain a safe and welcoming environment for children. Follow church policies regarding child protection, classroom volunteer-to-child ratios and background checks for all volunteers.
Qualifications:
A follower of Jesus who serves as an example to children in the church and demonstrates an understanding of how the gospel transforms the lives of children and ministry volunteers
Creative event planner and solid communicator with children and their parents
A self-starter who can work autonomously and take ownership of ministry areas
Experience leading a team of volunteers
Willing to become a member of New Song Community Church and aligns with its beliefs and values
Able to consistently attend most Sunday church services
Comfortable navigating the changing environment that comes with working at a new church plant
