We must get Active with the good news

We're activators of the gospel by praying every week for the lost  We're activators by going into our communities to testify for Jesus.

We know the Great Commission. God calls us to live it.

"What can you tell us about your experience in Action 52?" a girl in Venezuela was asked. She replied, "Come with me this evening to reach the lost with the gospel of Jesus Christ and find out. Action 52 is not something we talk about. It's something we live!"

 

These five functions will make us effective activators of the gospel

  1. PRAY: We must pray for the lost every week as a church and as individuals.
  2. EVANGELIZE: We must evangelize every week by planting the seed of the gospel. God converts people but we're the ones who must bring the message of salvation into our communities and world.
  3. DISCIPLE: We must disciple new believers immediately. There are many resources for this.  You can download 20 basic lessons here.  Or you can get Following Jesus, a free download from Life Way.
  4. SERVE: We must serve in our community and make contact with the lost to tell them about Jesus. People rarely find Christ on their own. We must help them by serving in many different ways as a church and an individual. As we serve, we intentionally share Christ.  If we're not evangelizing during our events, we have lost our purpose as Christians.
  5. WORSHIP: We must worship Him in every area of our lives. This includes our devotional life, our prayer life, our Sunday services and everything we do. Our worship includes applying His word to our daily lives so we can be salt and light in this world.

Action 52 has two discipleship phases

  1. First, internal discipleship. We must train Christians to pray for the lost, evangelize and disciple new believers. If they haven't a system of evangelism, pastors and leaders must teach them to present the gospel theologically, sensitively. For evangelism training we suggest Share Jesus with out Fear and Campus Crusade Tracts.More extensive studies are good too:  Faith and  Evangelism Explosion,   People start with a system of evangelism, then develop their own. They learn by getting active in witnessing
  2. Second, discipling new believers. We must nurture them as Christians and teach them how to evangelize. New believers have many unsaved friends and family. If they're trained, they'll bring the good news to many others.  Following Christ is an effective discipleship for new believers. Other discipleship materials include Survival Kit and Experiencing God.

Two results happen as we get active in prayer, evangelism, fulfilling our 5 functions and applying the 2 discipleship phases

  1. The first result of an evangelism movement is new believers who get discipled and baptized. 
  2. The second result is that more churches get started, like happened in the New Testament. We'll planting new churches across Canada and the world.
