The North American Mission Board (NAMB) has provided two ways to be on the field in Canada in a self-funded manner: MSC and MOST. The following is a comparison of these two avenues of service.
Missions On Short Term (MOST)Time of Service: 3 weeks to 2 years (renewable), including seasonal service
Hours of Service: 20 hour per week minimum required for duration of assignment
Areas of Service: START, SHARE, SEND, STRENGTHEN, and even SUPPORT
Approval Process: 30 days, NAMB Trustee approval not required
Support Raising: Able to raise support through NAMB (assigned "Midas" number)
Insurance: Available through Guidestone
Education & Experience: Education and/or experience requirements established by field request
Missionary Count: Not included in NAMB's missionary count, but included in CNBC volunteer count
NAMB Policies: NAMB divorce policy & guidelines applies only to those serving in lead pastor role
Membership: Must be an active member of a Southern Baptist or Canadian National Baptist Convention church
Training: Basic Training available online.

Mission Service Corps (MSC)Time of Service: 2 years (renewable) to career
Hours of Service: 20 hour per week minimum required for duration of assignment
Areas of Service: START, SHARE, and SEND
Approval Process: 60-90 days, NAMB Trustee approval required
Support Raising: Able to raise support through NAMB (assigned "Midas" number)
Insurance: Available through Guidestone
Education & Experience: Education and/or experience requirements established by field request
Missionary Count: Included in NAMB's missionary count
NAMB Policies: NAMB divorce policy & guidelines applies to all applicants
Membership: Must be an active member of a Southern Baptist or Canadian National Baptist Convention church
Training: Attendance at Missionary & Chaplain Commissioning expected (includes MSC Basic Training)
