Preparations are being made for the World Changers project to be held in Charlottetown, PE, this summer during the week of July 26 through 31. World Changers is an opportunity for youth who have completed grades 6 through 12 to work in select communities across the land as “missionaries” and “ministers” to demonstrate the nature of God’s love in action.

This will be the third year for our youth from Hope Community Church, Mactaquac, New Brunswick to take part in the Charlottetown World Changers project. The 2009 project brought youth to the Island from Texas, Arkansas, New York, the Carolinas and Florida; it was a thrill, as Canadians, for us to show our country off to our visitors. Other youth from CNBC churches across Canada are invited to take part in this ministry project. Visit a part of Canada that you may have never been to and take part in ministry with youth from across the country. Our youth are excited for the opportunity to re-unite with old friends and make some new ones.

In 2009 the youth were involved in all aspects of the projects in Charlottetown: in children’s ministry with play-ground Bible studies, in outreach to seniors by way of visiting senior’s residences in the area, on construction projects—working on two different homes—as well as a church roofing project. One lady, Georgie, was heard to say, “Words just can’t express how wonderful it is that people would do something like this for me.” The team repainted Georgie’s home and built a basement stairway for her. She was so pleased.

Not only was Georgie pleased with our work but she also enjoyed time visiting with us around her kitchen table. We were privileged to get to know her as all of the youth and adult leaders took the opportunity for some nice talks where amongst other things she was able to share her loneliness over the death of her husband earlier in the year. How wonderful for our youth to experience such things.

One of our youth Brett Hoyt (age 14, with two years of World Changers under his belt) said, "World Changer's is a fun experience. The past two years I met new friends, learned many things, and it was good to help others. I look forward to it every year."

Brett’s mum, Barb, is the coordinator for the Charlottetown project this year. She said, “The reason I decided to take a group to World Changers is that I want them to learn that life isn't all about them and I want them to experience the joy and rewards of serving others. I am pleased to be coordinating the project this year, and can't wait to see how God will use His people to do His work in Charlottetown.”

To the other churches in our association and across our convention we hope you will consider 2010 in Charlottetown. Who knows what blessings God may have in store for you. Take a look at the World Changers web-site today

Anyone who thinks they can’t afford it might consider some of what we’ve done or are doing this year. To keep costs down for our youth and their families our church family has rallied to the cause. We’ve had fun holding garage sales, rummage sales, craft sales, community suppers, a music night and bottle drives where our youth have been part of the work force.

Our fundraising for 2010 is on its way with a bottle drive planned, a Christmas tea and craft sale under our belt and plans for a Pizza Delight Pizza night, just to name a few.

Time is drawing short for registration and we’d like to see you there.
