Annual convention meeting in Toronto this summer
By Peter Roebbelen
TORONTO—This year’s CNBC convention will be held in Toronto, July 6 through 8. Our theme, “Touch The World” reflects the fact that Toronto is the most ethnically diverse city in the world with more than 200 distinct ethnic origins represented.
Within the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) you can hear over 140 languages and dialects spoken. This has created a cultural richness and diversity that is hard to imagine. The possibilities of eating foreign and exotic foods are limitless.
In spite of its 5.5 million population and in spite of this incredible racial and cultural diversity, the GTA continues to be ranked as the safest large city in North America. Come to Toronto and experience the world!
At this year’s convention, we literally want to give you a taste of what the world has to offer. We are planning a “Taste the World” dinner and concert (7:00 Monday, July 5 at Portico Church) that will give you an opportunity to sample food and listen to the sounds of dozens of different cultures.
Our children’s program team is busy planning a wonderful and safe program for kids up to grade six while our youth team is putting together a fun and challenging program for junior and senior high youth. You are definitely invited to bring the whole family.
Like last year, all the convention business will be addressed on Wednesday morning, leaving the rest of the time for learning, inspiration and worship.
The convention will be held at Portico – A Community Church located at 1814 Barbertown Road, Mississauga, Ontario. The church is 10 to 15 minutes from the airport and only a few minutes away from hotels, shopping malls and other amenities.
Our theme verse is “For God so loved the world …” We need to be reminded daily that God’s love is for the entire world. Yes, He loves us and He loves our friends and neighbours; He loves every person on the planet. And our mission continues to be to give ourselves away so that every person in the world knows about His love.
